Once again, the NSW Electoral Commission is using the iVote system for the upcoming By-elections for the Districts of Gosford, Manly and North Shore, on Saturday 8 April 2017. The iVote system is offered as an alternate voting option to enable people who may have difficulty casting a vote at a polling place or voting independently.

Registration for iVote opens at 10am Wednesday 29th March and voting opens the following Monday 3rd April, at 8am. You can register by internet at ivote.nsw.gov.au  or telephone on 1300 24 86 83. Votes can be cast by internet at ivote.nsw.gov.au , operator assisted telephone voting, or using a telephone keypad by phoning 1300 24 86 83.

If they wish, voters can phone 1300 24 86 83 to verify their vote has been recorded as cast during the election period, Monday 3 April to Saturday 8 April. After the election from Monday 10 April to 14 April, visit ivote.nsw.gov.au  to confirm your vote has been included in the count (receipt number is needed for this process)

A feature of iVote is the ability for a voter to save a partially completed vote and return at a later time to complete their vote.

The iVote system’s development has been reviewed at all stages with security in mind to ensure that it both improves trust and increases transparency. Both data security and voter privacy are maintained by strong governance and independent review.

iVote has been designed to ensure that nobody can ever know how an elector voted. The vote is stored securely in an encrypted format and cannot be linked with the voter’s identity.

There is a variety of ways to find out ‘How to Use iVote’.  There is a large print brochure, Auslan video, Audio instructions, a graphical brochure, YouTube video with audio and an interactive demonstration system, which are all available on the website ivote.nsw.gov.au
