Web Accessibility Techniques and Testing teaches how to test for accessibility issues within a website or web application and practical techniques to resolve them. We’ll demonstrate design and code solutions to achieve WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance and usability and accessibility best practices gathered through our research and user testing across various disability groups.
This course aligns with the Australian Human Rights Commission’s World Wide Web Access Advisory Notes and the Australian Government’s Digital Service Standard.
Our virtual training is live and interactive with an experienced instructor and is run as 2-hour sessions over 4 weeks.
The training sessions are live and interactive. Each attendee requires access to a desktop or laptop computer with a good internet connection and a headset or microphone and speakers. Instructions for Zoom will be sent with the invitation. You will receive a copy of the handbook and instructions via email before the first training session.
"This course does more than simply regurgitate WCAG. It provides real-world coding examples based on Matt's many years as a website developer and accessibility auditor. You get the inside secrets. 10 out of 10!!" Kathy, NSW Department of Education
"As a visually impaired user, I attended with my carer, who is a visual designer. Even to me I learned heaps. I thought Matt was excellent. Thank you very much." Nina
"Matt Putland has a wealth of expertise in web accessibility, and this was demonstrated in his training. His explanations were clear and comprehensive, and he has an obvious commitment to supporting accessible online information for people with disabilities. I highly recommend Matt and this course for anyone interested in web accessibility." Thomas, Monash University
"A must if you are serious about universal access and improving the web for everyone. Practical and immediately useful advice on improving all websites combined with focused feedback on your own organisation's website. Thoroughly recommend it." Matt P. Productivity Commission
"This is a well-structured and well-paced course with helpful supporting materials. It has significantly increased my knowledge and understanding of web accessibility issues, and, as a non-developer, my confidence around code-related aspects of testing." Linley K. Victoria Legal Aid
"Matt's presentation was dynamic and interesting. Not easy when you are talking to screens displaying people's names. Appreciated the humour and the excellent knowledge of the topic."
