Vision Australia Library

The Vision Australia Library opens up a world of audio and braille books, newspapers, magazines and podcasts for people with a print disability, including people who:

  • are blind or have low vision;
  • are unable to hold or manipulate books (eg. amputees, people with severe arthritis);
  • are unable to focus or move eyes (eg. people with MS, brain injury);
  • have a perceptual disability (eg. people with dyslexia or a visual processing disorder).

Write Away: Wednesdays 15 June - 14 July 2022

Our new writing series will have you learning the principles of poetry, basics of crime fiction,  fundamentals of fantasy and the elements of romance writing. This four-part series will be guided for four expert writers in their genre and is open to Vision Australia Library members.

Treat Your Shelf for Library and Information Week: Friday 29 July 2022 

Join fellow book-loving members of the Vision Australia Library in a conversation reflecting on the books you’ve read in the past, the books you’ve come back to later in life, and how libraries have helped you see things differently. Vision Australia’s librarians will also be on hand to share the brilliant range of new books coming to the library and offer you reading recommendations.    .

Membership is free and available to people who are blind, have low vision or a print disability.

If you are not a Vision Australia client, you will need a referrer who can certify you are a person with a print disability.

Books and resources

Library members can access thousands of audio books, braille and ebraille titles, magazines, newspapers and podcasts and much more. Find out more about Our Collection.

Print access

Vision Australia Library members can request up to 360 print pages of personal information to be converted to their preferred accessible format each financial year.

How to access the library

Members can access the library via the free Vision Australia Connect app on their smart device, or use a computer, DAISY player or other compatible device.

Feelix Children’s Library 

The Vision Australia Feelix Library supports children who are blind or have low vision to develop early literacy skills. Children from 0-7 years old  can learn about braille and enjoy stories with their parents and siblings. Find out more about Feelix.

Youth library 

The Vision Australia Library has a range of books, resources and services for young people who have a print disability. This includes audio books, a copy and reproduction service for academic materials, online databases and more. Find out more about the youth library.
